FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION'S

1. What's the difference between KeNpo and KeMpo ?

This is an easy one... the spelling.

its spelled with an "N" but pronounced with an "M".

Here is where the mix up begins.

Logic - If I ask you how to spell a Japanese word you go to the Japanese source!

The following additional transliteration rules are taken from the official recommendations:

The Very First Rule of Kanji

The end-of-syllable sound... is ALWAYS written "n" (even when it appears before the labials b, p, or m and is phonetically assimilated to "m", ergo, konban, kanpai, kanmuri).     In other words, the syllable ending of "ken" is always written "ken" even if it is phonetically pronounced "kem".

WARNING - Webster's New World Japanese/English Dictionary

States just the opposite. Here is what Webster ways: An N occurring before b, m, and p changes to an M in sound and is so written when romanized; ie.,

shin-bun=shimbun (newspaper) shin-pai=shimpai (worry) an+ma=amma (massage) Who is right? Webster or the Japanese! Remember Webster did not develop the Japanese Romaji system.

Not only did Webster violate the first rule, they actually changed it to make it exactly the opposite.

(sections of the information taken from Tracy Karate website)

so the problem came from a mistranslation....

as for the different styles.....in short... it started in china then to Japan (where it became the kenpo that most styles practice.) the Mitose family brought it to Hawaii. From there look in the history section.

3. Why do you where Black Gi's where others wear White Gi's?

Black is Kenpo traditional color. it signifies Death ! Kenpo was designed for WAR !!! it's a Killing art. (now that I scared parents reading this your child will be taught how to defend themselves and when to use it.)

4. Are you a Parker school?

No... we are traditional Kenpo not American Kenpo.. We teach what Ed Parker was Originally taught and what all other kenpo/kempo systems came from. for those that like or want to argue this fact....

Do you homework and look it up.... I'm right, Your wrong, PERIOD.....

5. Do you teach any age?

No. the minimum age is 5/6. we do not teach kids under that age. under that age is a DAYCARE NOT A KARATE SCHOOL....

6. Can kids earn a black belt or degree black belt in your school?                     We have junior Black Belts for children under the age of 15. We feel that the children do not have the maturity to handle the responsibility of an adult black belt. children must be at least the age of 15 to have an adult black belt, and the age 16 to have the title or rank of Shodan (1st degree Black Belt).

those school that issue those belts to minors, should then, make those student compete with adults in tournaments that have that rank. those schools disgrace and dishonor the rank of black belt.... I heard of an instructor  that has bragging rights to the youngest 1st degree Black Belt at the age of 8.... let's put that kid with real Black belts, heck let's put  that kid up against my Junior Black Belts, then beat his instructor with that Belt.... Shame to That instructor...
